Take one Step

My clients often thank me for keeping things simple. I have a gift for distilling complications so that the essence is more easily seen and understood. Then an actionable way forward can reveal itself.

There is nothing dramatic about the work of waking up but it is beautiful when one day you look around and notice your life has changed. Looking back you realize it was a series of single steps that brought you here.

I remember a time in my 30’s that was particularly challenging. Movement was my medicine. I lived on the west coast and I spent a lot of time hiking. As I got physically strong my emotions strengthened too.

One day I powered my way to the top of a mountain. I wasn’t thinking about where I was going, I was just moving as quickly as I could enjoying my determination.

When I stopped to take in the view, I looked back from where I came and I had a moment of panic because I couldn’t follow the line of trail with my eyes. I wasn’t sure how I’d gotten to where I was and I didn’t think I could find my way back.

I started giving myself a gentle talking to. If you enter into a situation quietly it’s more likely to loosen up and take a breath and that’s when a change of perspective occurs.

It was such a relief when I realized that I just had to take one step at a time and the way would reveal itself.

Is there something that feels complicated in your life that needs attending to?

Are you willing to take one step so the way can reveal itself?

Take that step.
