A New View

At times, we are all in need of a new perspective. It’s not easy to find a fresh view of a situation, place or person that we are used to interacting with day to day. We think we know exactly what’s going on, where we are and whom we are with.

Here’s a simple practice that will help you know that there is always more than meets the eye.

The next time you are outside walking, take a look at your surroundings. What’s in front of you? What’s behind you? What’s on the ground under your feet? Get your bearings.

Then, rather than looking down at your feet or out ahead in the direction you are going, stop and look up.

This is what I found when I looked up today.

I would definitely have missed a few moments of awe if I hadn’t chosen to look in a new direction.

Let this experience of discovery inform the way you choose to look at a situation or a person in your life where you have been in need of a new perspective. You might experience a lightening up of what has felt like a difficult situation. Or you might find out something new about someone you have known for a long time and feel more empathy toward them.

You might even find out something that surprises you about yourself.

I’d love to hear about your experience.
