I’ve found myself looking up spontaneously a lot lately. It all started when I was on a morning walk and I noticed some great big seedpods littering the sidewalk. I looked up to see where they had come from and I was awestruck by the beauty of the branches above me. I had walked by this particular tree often but I had never looked up into it before.
I had a new appreciation for that tree!
It happened again when I was camping. I was lying on a big rock next to the lake drying off after a swim.
I looked up and noticed the sweetest puffy clouds.
When I returned home last week I started looking up more often. When I say up, I don’t mean slightly up, I mean straight up. Looking straight up offers a completely new perspective, one that is different from the usual sitting in a chair and looking up or walking along and looking up.
Before you declare me slightly nuts, go outside and look straight up. Look up into the sky or up into a tree. I did it a few times today and once I saw a whole flock of birds way up there soaring in the sky. My backyard is not a place where I am used to observing the teeny tiny silhouettes of birds soaring.
I felt awe.
I also looked up through a small tree in my backyard and the leaves looked so precious from that perspective.
I felt life’s preciousness.
Look up!
What did you notice when you looked up?
