Love is Life

When I read my tea fortune this morning “Love is life. Life is love.”, I knew I had to write about gratitude.

Practicing gratitude is a direct route to love.

Practicing gratitude is a cure all. It lifts you up in the moment and stores up positive energy for the future.

There are so many ways to practice gratitude.

Some people like to set a positive tone for their day by writing 3 things they are grateful for first thing each morning. Others like to usher themselves into a peaceful sleep by writing in their gratitude journal.

One of my clients offers gratitude on her daily walk in the woods.

Expressing gratitude while moving will amplify the feeling. Try cooking gratitude, bathing gratitude or washing the floors gratitude.

Stand up right now and try dancing gratitude. Move your hips. Stretch your arms. Doesn’t it feel good? If you are in an office reading this close your eyes and imagine yourself dancing gratitude.

When you move and express gratitude you begin to embody gratitude. The simplest way to do this is by breathing gratitude.

When I was attending University I had a job cleaning houses. I practiced gratitude as I was folding the towels, dusting the shelves and washing the windows.

When I left those homes they were singing and I was too!

Offer gratitude when you are distressed or disappointed or when you’re experiencing any mood that you’d rather shift.

I still remember a particular time when I was driving down a country road feeling insignificant and alone and I began offering gratitude. At first, it can feel as though you are just going through the motions but gradually your heart starts to open and you begin to reconnect with the goodness of life.

On that day I looked around me and said things like, “I am grateful for my car”, “I am grateful for my tea”, “I am grateful for this country road”. My tears started to flow and when I wiped them away I noticed a bluer than blue sky stretching out in front of me.

My gratitude drew me into connection with what was around me and all was well again.

Keep your gratitude practice simple. Try doing it first thing in the morning or last thing before you go to bed or offer gratitude when you are in need of some love.
