End Your Day in a Loving Way

“Be willing to find things you love about yourself and others, and your demons will melt away. Your fears cannot exist in the same place that love and gentleness abide”. David Carson

I love it when quotes arrive at just the right time. Reading this the other day was like receiving a healing balm. It helped me return to a place of equilibrium, a place hopeful and powerful.

When my clients talk about their challenges, they are often so hard on themselves.

It’s my job to see them in the light of their wholeness. It’s easy for me to see them moving forward without barriers. Seeing them in their light eases the way for change to happen.

As they find ways to point their thoughts in the direction of self-love, a whole world of wonder opens up and their lives become potent with potential.

Here is a simple practice to aim you in the direction of self-love at the end of your day.

The Loving Way
At the end of the day stand and place your hands on your heart.

Take a relaxing breath and recall three things you did well. They can be small or large. Just glance back over your day until you light on one thing you did well.

It could be “I went for a walk first thing this morning” or “ I made a healthy dinner” or “I stopped what I was doing when my daughter needed help and I really made a difference”.

This is not a contest to find the most important memory. Just let the memories of three things you did well bubble up into your consciousness and recognize them one by one free of judgment.

Secure the good feeling of each memory by taking a deep breath in and a long breath out. After the third one, take a final breath in and out and let your hands fall to your side.

Try this practice. It’s so nourishing to end your day in a loving way.
