Find Freedom in Discontent

Have you been complaining even more than usual lately? Great!

Does the life you want seem beyond your reach? Wonderful!

Are you saying things to yourself that sound something like, “I’m so tired”, “I don’t want to do that”, “This isn’t what I signed up for”, “I can’t believe I haven’t done that yet” and on and on.

I want you to know that you are solidly on your path because…

Right in the middle of your discontent is a place of awe and wonder and it’s easier than you can imagine finding your way there.

Try this.

Take out a pen and paper and write down all your statements of discontent. You know what they are.

Now I want to show you how these statements of discontent can become the key to your freedom.

Begin by turning each statement around.

“I’m so tired” becomes “I feel energized”. “I don’t want to do that” becomes “I’ll do that”. “This isn’t what I signed up for” becomes “I am so fortunate”. “I can’t believe I haven’t finished that yet” becomes “Look what I just accomplished”.

Change each of your statements of discontent into statements that resonate with YES!

Here’s where the fun begins. Throughout your day notice the moments when your new statements feel true.

For example, you might notice a moment of satisfaction as you wash the dishes. You might notice a moment of gratitude when you empty the compost and just happen to look up to discover that the moon is full. Or you might notice a moment of energy as you walk down the stairs.

By doing this practice you will start to realize that within every feeling of discontent is the seed to contentment. And the way to tend the seed is to simply notice it.

Once you start noticing the moments that are going well, all sorts of wonderful will break loose.

Are you willing to try it?

Find freedom in your discontent.

I’d love to hear what you discovered. Leave a comment.

I am sending this to a friend. She is so often caught-up in the doldrums that she spends most of her time nurturing a negative outlook, then she doesn’t understand why things don’t get “better” in her life. Thank you. Jovanna, for some great ideas. Rachael
